Saudi Arabia’s Diplomatic Efforts in Gaza Conflict: Journey Begins in China
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan recently announced a significant diplomatic move regarding the Gaza conflict. A ministerial committee, established at the Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, is tasked with mobilizing international action to end the war on Gaza. Basically, it is comprising foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Palestine. Such committee reflects a unified stance among Arab and Islamic nations.

KSA, under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has been vocal in its condemnation of the military assault on Gaza. The Kingdom has called for an immediate end to hostilities. It stressed the need to protect civilians and adhere to international humanitarian law. Emphatically, this stance was echoed in a recent declaration with African leaders, reinforcing the need for concerted efforts to resolve the conflict.
China as the Starting Point
The committee’s work begins in China, signaling the importance of involving major global powers in resolving the Gaza conflict. At this point, Prince Faisal emphasized the urgency of establishing humanitarian corridors and facilitating the delivery of aid to Gaza. This initial visit also aims to convey a strong message about the need for an immediate ceasefire and the start of a genuine political process towards a lasting and comprehensive peace.

In addition to visiting China, the committee plans to travel to several other capitals, showcasing a global approach to the crisis. The efforts of the Saudi-led committee align with broader diplomatic discussions, including meetings with European Union and UK representatives. These discussions focus on the importance of ceasing hostilities and allowing humanitarian organizations to deliver urgent aid to Gaza.
