Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley, accepted the award on behalf of the Kingdom during a ceremony in Rome, held in celebration of FAO’s 80th anniversary and alongside the fifth annual World Food Forum, taking place from October 10 to 17.
On this occasion, Eng. Alfadley emphasized that the recognition reflects Saudi Arabia’s leadership in advancing the rural agricultural sector and its strong partnership with FAO. He also noted that the award highlights the Kingdom’s successful model for sustainable agricultural development at local, regional, and global levels, underscoring its commitment to international collaboration. These accomplishments, he added, align with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to strengthen food security, promote rural development, and support environmental sustainability.
Over the past five years, the Saudi Reef Program has achieved remarkable results—empowering more than 80,000 beneficiaries nationwide and providing over SAR 3 billion in direct financial support across eight agricultural sectors.
The initiative has significantly contributed to economic growth by increasing farmers’ incomes and creating more than 70,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly. Finally, in terms of production, the program has facilitated the planting of over 15 million seedlings and supported the output of approximately 250 million kilograms of agricultural products.
