Saudi Arabia expressed its hope that this agreement will promote dialogue between Yemeni parties under the auspices of the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to discuss economic and humanitarian issues, which contributes to reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis within the framework of the roadmap that supports the peace process in Yemen.
The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, said on Tuesday that the legitimate Yemeni government and the Houthis reached an agreement to de-escalate the economic tensions between them related to the banking sector and the operation of the national airline.
The parties agreed to “cancel all the recent decisions and procedures against banks by both sides and refrain in the future from any similar decisions or procedures,” reported Asharq Al-Awsat.
They also agreed on “resuming Yemenia Airways’ flights between Sanaa and Jordan and increasing the number of flights to three daily flights, and operating flights to Cairo and India daily or as needed.”
Moreover, the parties agreed on “initiating the convening of meetings to discuss all economic and humanitarian issues based on the roadmap.”
