KSrelief Distributes 517 Food Baskets in Yemen

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed 517 food baskets in Aden Governorate, Yemen on Thursday.

Around 3,619 people, totaling 517 families benefited from the baskets.

The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people through KSrelief.

UN-Saudi Arabia Agreement to Support Yemen

As part of the Kingdom’s support to Yemen, KSrelief signed US$9 Million Agreement with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to support the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).

Signed via video conference, the agreement stands as a testament to Saudi Arabia’s dedication to improving the living conditions of affected people in Yemen.

KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General of Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed Al Baiz and UN Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator Joyce Msuya stressed the significance of the current agreement by mentioning the following provisions:

  • Supporting YHF to address humanitarian crises and humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people
  • Providing urgent assistance to the most vulnerable groups
  • Boosting humanitarian efforts in Yemen in all relief sectors
  • Enabling the establishment of non-governmental organizations

Furthermore, KSrelief has recently held meetings with the United Nations officials to discuss the aid projects in Yemen.

The Director of the Department of Partnerships and International Relations at KSrelief, Dr. Hana Omar, met with Markus Werne, the director of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen.

Werne praised the Kingdom’s humanitarian and relief efforts in assisting vulnerable people in the Arab nation and around the world.

The officials commended Saudi Arabia’s relief projects and its pivotal role in alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
