In a significant move to enhance pilgrim accommodations ahead of the upcoming Hajj season, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has unveiled a new licensing system for facilities in Makkah and Madinah. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, aims to streamline the accommodation process for pilgrims.
New Licensing Process for Pilgrim Accommodations
All applicants must register on the Nusuk Masar platform to qualify for leasing accommodations to pilgrims. To obtain licenses, applicants must use the Ministry of Tourism’s electronic system before the contracting period ends on 1 February 2026. Notably, hotels that already hold year-round licenses from the Ministry of Tourism are exempt from this new requirement, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
This seasonal licensing mechanism aims to elevate service quality and link accommodations to the Nusuk platform for coordinated bookings. Additionally, it seeks to expand hospitality capacity during the peak Hajj period. By implementing this centralized licensing system available here, the Ministry ensures a safer and more organized experience for pilgrims.
Enhanced Efficiency in Umrah Movements
Meanwhile, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has released new data highlighting increased efficiency in pilgrimage movements. During Rabi’ Al Awwal 1447 AH, the average duration to complete Umrah reached just 115 minutes.
The report indicates that 87% of pilgrims performed Tawaf in the Mataf area, while the average Tawaf took 46 minutes, while Sa’i required 47 minutes. Pilgrims spent approximately 12 minutes reaching Mataf from the courtyards and 10 minutes moving to Al Mas’a.
The authority remains committed to enhancing pilgrim mobility and ensuring that rituals are performed with ease and comfort. This dedication reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to improve the overall pilgrimage experience for millions of visitors each year.
