Saudi Arabia to Supply Syria with 1.65mn Crude Oil Barrels

Saudi Arabia has provided Syria with a grant of 1.65 million barrels of crude oil, as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to improve the living conditions of the Syrian people.

The move aligns with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman.

Crude Oil Grant

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) will provide the grant. In the light of this, the CEO of the SFD, Sultan Al-Marshad, and the Syrian Minister of Energy, Mohammed Al Bashir, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on this matter, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The grant plays a key role in enhancing the operations of Syrian refineries and achieving operational and financial sustainability to support Syria’s economic development and help it in addressing economic challenges.

It also aims to promote the growth of key sectors and support national and international efforts to achieve sustainable development goals.

Bolstering Energy Cooperation

In July 2025, Saudi Arabia and Syria signed an MoU to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector. During a meeting in Riyadh, the Saudi Energy Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, and his Syrian counterpart, Mohammad Al-Bashir, signed the agreement that aims to foster cooperation in the fields of petroleum oil, gas, petrochemicals, electricity, power interconnection, and renewable energy.

The agreement followed the Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum, held in Damascus on July 24, 2025, with the participation of more than 20 government entities and over 100 leading private companies from Saudi Arabia.

Strong Support for Syria

Since the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, Saudi Arabia has fully supported Syria’s efforts to rebuild the nation and develop its economy. In the light of this, the Kingdom spearheaded a diplomatic push to lift sanctions on Syria.

In his address to the Shura Council on Wednesday, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman highlighted Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support to Syria, including Riyadh’s firm positions and initiatives aimed at backing Damascus efforts to safeguard its territorial integrity and rebuild its economy.
