Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that it had summoned Iraqi ambassador to Riyadh over what it described as continued drone attacks and threats targeting the Kingdom and other Gulf states, allegedly originating from Iraqi territory, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
War in Iran
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, targeting its leadership and triggering a new conflict in the Middle East.
Iran has been responding with a retaliatory counterattack in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi as a retaliatory move, while launching barrages of missiles and drones toward Israel.
The conflict has spread across the Middle East, leaving thousands dead, triggering unprecedented disruptions to energy supplies especially after the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iraqi Attacks
During the handover of a formal protest note, the Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs highlighted the Kingdom’s strong condemnation and denunciation of attacks allegedly launching from Iraqi territory and targeting Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.
He also stressed the significance of Iraq “dealing responsibly” with the threats, underscoring that Saudi Arabia “will take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and safeguard its territory.”
