Saudi Arabia Spearheads Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Egypt on Monday to lead the Kingdom’s delegation at the historic Gaza peace summit, underscoring a significant diplomatic push for a comprehensive regional peace framework. The high-level meeting in this Red Sea resort city aims to solidify an international commitment to peace after two years of devastating violence.

The summit is co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, bringing together more than 20 world leaders, with the aim to end the genocidal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, boost efforts toward lasting peace, and usher in a new era of regional security and stability in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia’s participation highlights its consistent and vigorous diplomatic efforts to halt the conflict, as the Kingdom has long advocated for the protection of civilian lives in Gaza and a sustainable political solution. Its involvement signals a firm commitment to achieving a future where Palestinian rights are central to a lasting peace.

Prince Faisal’s attendance follows his recent diplomatic engagements, following his participation in a ministerial meeting in Paris to discuss the US plan for a Gaza ceasefire which brought together foreign ministers from key Arab, Islamic, and European nations. This continued effort demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s dedicated leadership in coordinating international consensus.

A Global Assembly for a Fragile Truce

The city’s airport saw a steady stream of arriving dignitaries throughout the day, all converging for this critical diplomatic moment. However, world leaders who have already arrived are:

  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
  • Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani
  • Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas
  • UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer
  • French President Emmanuel Macron
  • Former UK prime minister Tony Blair.

Other confirmed attendees include the leaders of Jordan, Germany, Italy, and Pakistan, as well as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. This broad assembly represents a powerful international coalition determined to support the ceasefire.

The summit takes place as a fragile ceasefire holds in Gaza. World leaders now face the complex task of negotiating the next phases of the agreement. Critical issues include the future governance of Gaza, a full Israeli troop withdrawal, and a path toward reconstruction.

The collective presence of so many nations, with Saudi Arabia playing a prominent and principled role, signals a determined global push. The ultimate goal is to transform a temporary truce into a secure and prosperous future for the Palestinian people.
