Saudi Arabia signs military, economic and security agreements with Athens
Saudi Arabia and Greece signed on Tuesday memoranda of cooperation in the military, economy, and security.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis both attended this signing.
Among the most prominent memoranda of cooperation that were signed is a cooperation agreement in the military field between the two countries, as well as another agreement to combat crime.
The areas of cooperation also included the economic field, by signing an agreement to protect and encourage investment.
Both a memorandum of understanding in the area of scientific and technical collaboration as well as an understanding and agreement in the field of health were included in the signing.
At Maximus Palace in Athens, the Greek Prime Minister and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia met today on a bilateral basis.
The Greek Prime Minister welcomed the Saudi Crown Prince, the moment he arrived at the government headquarters in the capital, Athens, and conducted an official reception ceremony for him.
Before doing another official visit to France, the Saudi crown prince arrived in Greece earlier today. Greek Deputy Prime Minister Pekramenos welcomed him at the Athens International Airport.
Saudi Greek Business Council
It is noteworthy that the two countries established, through the Saudi-Greek Joint Committee, the Saudi-Greek Business Council in the year 2021.
This is in the context of strengthening the distinguished bilateral relations and the Kingdom’s vision 2030 to raise the volume of trade and investment exchanges between the two countries.
The volume of trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Greece during the past six years (2016-2021) reached 34 billion riyals ($9 billion).
The volume of Saudi non-oil exports to Greece during the past year (2021) exceeded the barrier of 660 million riyals ($176 million).
