Riyadh Fashion Week: Saudi Arabia Levelling Up its Fashion Game
Missed Paris Fashion Week? No problem; Saudi Arabia has got you. Saudi Arabia is hosting its first-generation Saudi Fashion Week in its continued efforts to carve out a path for the Arab world on the international arena in all fields.
The Saudi Fashion Commission will inaugurate 2023 Riyadh Fashion Week this month, October, in the capital city. It is scheduled to last from October 20 to October 23 to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s growing fashion presence. A number of world-famous fashion figures, celebrities and buyers will attend the event.
“For the first time ever, we now invite the fashion community to our home during this historic event. Saudi is on its way to becoming the next international fashion destination,” said the CEO of the Fashion Commission Burak Çakmak.
Taking pride in its designers, Riyadh Fashion Week will have a showroom exhibit showcasing thirty Saudi brands. Adnan Akbar, Arwa Albanawi, Atelier, Hekayat, Dar Alhanouf and Dazluq are among the local brands that will show their work.
Besides its global effect, fashion is contributing to the Saudi economy. In 2022, the fashion industry contributed to 1.4% of GDP and provided 230,000 job opportunities. By 2025, fashion sales are expected to increase by 48%.
