Saudi Arabia launches first Women’s Cycling League
A step taken by the Saudi Cycling Federation within the framework of the Women’s Sports Support Program was the creation of the first edition of the Federation for Women’s Cycling League.
The Women’s League will start on October 14, and the competitions include 7 league races, the Kingdom Champion’s race (individuals) against the clock,
The competitions also include the Kingdom Champion Race (general singles), and the total race distances will be 625 kilometers in 7 different regions of the Kingdom.
Princess Mashael bint Faisal, head of the Women’s Committee in the Saudi Cycling Federation, said that this announcement is an important moment in the march of women’s cycling.
She indicated that launching the first official Women’s Cycling League in the Kingdom was one of the most important goals of the Women’s Committee.
She confirmed that the technical committee had completed the preparation of all the regulations and regulations for the timetable, stressing the committees’ keenness to implement and adhere to them due to the importance of this version in the Saudi cycling track.
The Princess thanked the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic Committee, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, for his unlimited support.
She also thanked the President of the Saudi Cycling Federation Abdullah Al-Wathlan for his efforts and follow-up.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ettifaq Club is the first club in the Kingdom to do women’s cycling, followed by Al-Raed Club, Al-Riyadh Club, and Al-Khaleej Club.
This Women’s Cycling League aims to motivate women to participate in sports activities and to find distinguished players who are able to represent the Kingdom and reach continental and international achievements.
