Saudi Arabia is taking part in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Washington, from October 21-26, 2024, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi Minister of Finance, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, is leading the Kingdom’s delegation, which is also participating in the fourth G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting.
Several senior officials have joined the Kingdom’s delegation, including Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) Governor, Ayman Al-Sayari; Saudi Deputy Minister of Finance, Abdulmohsen Alkhalaf; Saudi Deputy Minister of Finance for International Relations, Khalid Bawazier; and the Deputy Chair of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the IMF.
During Saudi Arabia’s participation, Al-Jadaan will chair the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the IMF. The meeting aims to exchange views regarding the global economy developments and explore global economic policies’ priorities.
Furthermore, it aims to discuss the IMF’s role in addressing these developments through providing consultation to member states and enhancing their technical capacities, in addition to providing financial support to countries in need.
Moreover, Al-Jadaan and Al-Sayari will take part in the fourth G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, under Brazil’s presidency, to discuss a series of economic and development issues, and explore ways to strengthen multilateral cooperation to tackle the challenges facing the global economy.
These annual meetings bring together Ministers of Finance, Central Bank Governors, leaders of international organizations and the private sector, representatives of civil society organizations, and academics. They aim to discuss the latest global economic and financial developments, as well as other topics of mutual interest, such as sustainable development, global financial stability and ways to eradicate poverty.
