Saudi Arabia Has What It Takes to Export Hydrogen

Saudi Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman said, on the sidelines of Climate Week, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabiacan be the exporter of clean hydrogen as well as the producer and exporter of clean electricity as well.

The session was entitled: “Enhancing comprehensive participation and the circular economy to achieve fair and equitable energy transitions”. During the session, the minister said the words in the title were part of first day’s proceedings of Climate Week in the Middle East and North Africa 2023.

On the other hand, the Emirate Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei, Iraqi Minister of Oil Hayyan Abdul Ghani, and Pakistani Minister of Climate Change Ahmed Islam participated in the session.

His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, confirmed that the Kingdom  has the capabilities necessary for capturing and storing carbon. There is nothing more important to the Kingdom, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the Republic of Iraq than having enough investments to ensure the operation of these technologies through incentives and enablers.

Abdulaziz bin Salman indicated that everyone will reap the benefits of these technologies’ success. It is consistent with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

He stated that the Kingdom has adopted a comprehensive approach combining all of its capabilities to produce energy from renewable sources, produce hydrogen, provide lines and pipelines for its distribution and transmit electricity.

Remarks of the Session

 

During the session, the participants stressed that joint financing must be the basis of the world’s action. They emphasized the importance of harnessing technologies as well as using green hydrogen and the tools necessary to reach global future goals. The ministers noted that developed countries have to work on projects that would reduce the burdens resulting from carbon emissions.

 

The participants stressed the importance of countries cooperating in clean energy-related projects- cutting thermal emissions and reduce the carbon footprint. The ministers vocaled their hopes that the climate change summits would contribute to launching carbon emissions reduction projects and working on many options that would contribute to reducing these emissions.

Concluding their meeting, the participants stressed the importance of thinking in a better way and using technology correctly to using energy without affecting the environment.
