Over the past week, the conflict between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah has seen the deadliest cross-border escalation since the outbreak of Gaza war on October 7, 2023.
Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel, in support of Hamas in Gaza, while Israel has responded with airstrikes targeting the Lebanese group’s senior commanders.
On Monday, Israeli strikes killed at least 490 people, including over 90 women and children, and wounded 1,645 people, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The strikes also forced tens of thousands of people to flee southern Lebanon, reported Reuters.
The Israeli military announced it hit Hezbollah targets in Lebanon’s south, east and north, including “launchers, command posts and infrastructure.” Moreover, the Israeli Air Force said it struck 1,600 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.
