Saudi Arabia, Estonia to Further Political, Economic Cooperation

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, said that Saudi Arabia and Estonia decided to enhance mutual cooperation in various sectors.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Prince Faisal bin Farhan has emphasized that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on political consultations between both countries serves as a cornerstone for cooperation.

He added that Saudi Arabia and Estonia are working to advance cooperation in several sectors; explore economic, cultural and technical opportunities; and increase opportunities for trade, investment and innovation enhancement.

In a joint press conference with Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that the bilateral trade between the Kingdom and Estonia last year reached $72mn. Exports from Saudi Arabia reached $21mn, while imports from Estonia reached $51mn. He expressed his aspirations to promote economic growth in both countries.

Moreover, Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that the discussions with his Estonian counterpart addressed several issues, including common challenges, the war in Gaza, and finding a permanent and peaceful solution for the war in Ukraine.

The Saudi Foreign Minister commended Estonia’s vote in favor of the UN General Assembly’s resolution on Palestine’s membership in the UN. He noted that this is a significant step towards keeping hope alive for a two-state solution.

Official Reception

Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Tallinn, Estonia on Tuesday on an official visit to strengthen Saudi-Estonian relations.

Later on Wednesday, Estonia’s Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas, received the Saudi Foreign Minister. Both officials discussed ways to further mutual cooperation in various sectors, as well as the latest regional and international developments.

In addition, Prince Faisal bin Farhan conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the Prime Minister, government and friendly people of Estonia, wishing them more progress and prosperity.

Non-resident Saudi Ambassador to Estonia Nesreen Al-Shibel and Director-General of the Foreign Minister’s Office Abdulrahman Al-Dawood attended the reception.
