Saudi Arabia Displays National Initiatives, Global Contributions at World Energy Congress

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its energy system, is participating in the 26th World Energy Congress, held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, from April 22 to April 25, 2024.

The World Energy Congress will discuss several energy-related issues, the transformations in this vital sector, and the need to improve the equitable and fair management of these transformations without compromising the environment.

Saudi Arabia is participating with a cadre of specialists and experts, who will showcase the Kingdom’s contributions to energy sector, and its global leadership in the sector, through various national programs and initiatives, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Kingdom’s participation involves a special pavilion at the Congress exhibition, under the theme “Sustainable Energy – Shared Future.” This pavilion will focus on Saudi Arabia’s role as one of the global leaders in energy production, and on its persistent efforts to contribute to world endeavors to combat climate change.

In addition, the pavilion will highlight steps taken by the Kingdom to achieve its national ambitions related to reaching net zero emissions by 2060, or sooner, once the needed technology becomes available. These efforts stem from the imperative of securing sustainable energy to individuals and communities, while working to ensure the safety of the Earth’s future and its inhabitants.

The Kingdom will take part in discussing pivotal topics related to energy, including ways to develop renewable and nuclear energy sectors, improve energy efficiency by 2030, leverage liquid fuel displacement, accelerate the application of emission reduction technologies, such as carbon capture, utilization and storage and low-carbon hydrogen production.

The World Energy Congress is a global energy event gathering more than 7000 energy stakeholders, 200 speakers, and 70 Ministers. It provides a platform for high-level government-to-government dialogue and unites businesses and communities from all over the world.

This year’s edition celebrates 100 years since the first World Energy Congress. It will challenge conventional thinking and drive action to advance clean, fair and inclusive energy transitions in all world regions.
