Saudi Arabia Denounces Israeli Blatant Settlement Expansion in West Bank

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation of Israel’s expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Ministry confirmed the Kingdom’s firm rejection of all settlement activities in the Palestinian territories.

It stated that Israel continues to clearly violate the international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

Furthermore, it marked that such violations undermine any peace opportunities, cause more tensions, and shake the international peace and security.

On Thursday, the Israeli Cabinet approved a plan designed to legalize five illegal settlements in the West Bank and impose sanctions on the Palestinian Authority.

This plan would officially tighten Israel’s hold on the West Bank and complicate any future effort to reach an agreement on a two-state solution for Palestinians and Israelis.

Israel seized the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in the 1967 Mideast war. Some 500,000 Israelis have settled in the West Bank.

However, the international community largely considers their presence illegal.

Palestinians said that such expansions are actually shrinking their access to land stressing that settler violence against them has increased since Hamas’s attack on Octobre 7.

Moreover, they expressed real concerns over the possibility that is just a matter of time, and they will be forced to leave their homes.
