Saudi Arabia is joining the global observance of World Patient Safety Day on September 17, held this year under the theme “Patient Safety from the Start!”—emphasizing the vital role of protecting the health and well-being of children and newborns from their very first moments of life.
This participation reflects the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to create a vibrant society with a healthy population and an enhanced quality of life.

To mark the occasion, the Saudi Patient Safety Center has launched a series of initiatives designed to raise awareness about child and newborn safety in healthcare. Moreover, these efforts empower families and healthcare professionals to adopt best practices that ensure safe and effective care.
Highlights include lighting up major landmarks and towers across the Kingdom in orange—the official color of patient safety—hosting scientific lectures for healthcare providers, and rolling out awareness campaigns on street screens and social media platforms to spread child safety messages.

In collaboration with partners such as the Ministry of Sport and the Sports for All Federation, the initiatives also feature community and sporting events, as well as educational materials tailored for children and families, ensuring that patient safety awareness reaches every segment of society.
