Saudi Arabia welcomed the temporary truce agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan reached on the advent of Eid Al-Fitr, as the Kingdom played a key mediating role alongside Qatar and Turkey to achieve this diplomatic breakthrough.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement expressing the Kingdom’s support for the ceasefire. This agreement arrives just before the holy festival, bringing hope for peace between the neighboring Islamic nations.
In a statement, the ministry declared: “The Kingdom appreciates the willingness of both parties to respond to the calls made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, and the Republic of Turkey to implement this truce.”
The ministry further emphasized Riyadh’s longstanding position on peaceful resolution of disputes. Saudi leadership consistently advocates for diplomatic channels rather than military confrontation. “It emphasizes that prioritizing dialogue and peaceful solutions is the most effective means to resolve ongoing disputes,” the statement continued.
This approach reflects the Kingdom’s broader foreign policy principles. Saudi Arabia regularly promotes mediation and reconciliation efforts throughout the Islamic world.
Saudi Commitment to Regional Stability
The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the Kingdom’s dedication to ongoing diplomatic work. Riyadh coordinates closely with brotherly and friendly nations to address regional challenges.
The statement further added, “The Kingdom reaffirms its commitment to continuing tireless diplomatic efforts, in collaboration with brotherly and friendly nations, to achieve peace, security, and stability in the region.”
Saudi Arabia maintains strong bilateral relations with both Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Kingdom hosts millions of Pakistani workers and has historical ties to Afghan communities.
Eid Al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, Islam’s holy month of fasting. The truce allows Muslim families on both sides of the border to celebrate the festival without fear of violence.
Regional observers praise the Saudi-led mediation effort. This diplomatic success enhances the Kingdom’s role as a stabilizing force in South Asia.
