Qiddiya Investment Company Launches Gaming, Esports Area
The Qiddiya Investment Company today announced the launch of a gaming and esports area in Qiddiya city, reported Saudi Press Agency. This marks the first multi-use gaming and electronic sports zone in the world. Its aim is to attract players globally and boost Saudi Arabia’s status as a gaming and esports global hub.
Crown Prince’s Support
The announcement extends the Crown Prince’s support for the gaming and electronic sports sector. This support is apparent through the launch of the national strategy for gaming and electronic sports, alongside various initiatives. These initiatives are set to achieve Saudi Arabia’s targets in this sector, which interests two-thirds of society.
Expanding the Gaming Sector
Abdullah Al Dawood, Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company, stated, “The gaming and eSports sector is among the fastest-growing sectors. We can see Saudi Arabia’s ambitious plans to elevate the esports sector. Our role is to host major events and championships by developing infrastructure.” Al Dawood added, “The Qiddiya gaming and eSports zone is not just for professionals, but for all gaming enthusiasts of all ages. It is an area that transforms the gaming and esports world into reality.”
World-Class Facilities
The area will feature 4 arenas, designed to the highest standards for hosting major global electronic gaming events year-round. It will have a seating capacity of 73,000, including one of the world’s largest electronic sports stadiums with 5,300 seats. This stadium will boast the world’s largest indoor LED screen.
A Comprehensive Experience
Spanning over 500,000 square meters, the area will include 100,000 square meters for game sales, dining, and entertainment. It will offer a conducive environment for living, working, and playing with quality residential units and hotel rooms.
International electronic sports Clubs
Up to 25 electronic sports clubs from around the world will be hosted for living, training, and competing. The area will welcome leaders in the gaming sector and provide over 30 regional headquarters for leading electronic game development companies.
Supporting National Strategy
The Qiddiya gaming and zone supports the national strategy for gaming and esports. It aims to make Saudi Arabia a global and esports center by 2030. It will play a key role in attracting up to 10 million annual visits.
