Prince Saud bin Nahar, Governor of Taif, today inaugurated the 2024 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, which is part of the Pink October events, under the slogan “Your Banner is Pink.” The campaign is sponsored by the Ministry of Health’s branch in the governorate, in cooperation with several private and military health entities. Moreover, its aim is to raise awareness about the importance of early breast cancer screening and to introduce the latest prevention and treatment methods available.
The inauguration was attended by the Director of the Ministry of Health branch in Taif, Dr. Samir Al-Shahrani, along with several branch leaders, the CEO of the Health Cluster, Dr. Talal Al-Maliki, and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Taif Health Association for Cancer Patients, Rahma Al-Otaibi. During the event, an explanation was provided on how to perform self-examinations and methods of prevention. Furthermore, the importance of early detection in reducing mortality rates and increasing the chances of successful treatment was also highlighted.
His Highness the Governor of Taif praised health authorities for enhancing community awareness and improving women’s health. He also emphasized the importance of regular check-ups and utilizing the free services offered by the campaign in health centers and hospitals. Finally, the campaign includes field activities and awareness tours in commercial centers, schools, and universities, along with free screening services for women throughout the governorate.
