PIF Launches Dan for Developing Tourism Projects

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has announced the establishment of ‘Dan’, specializing in developing rural and environmental tourism projects, according to Saudi Press Agency.
Unique Tourism Projects in Natural Settings
Dan aims to develop distinctive tourism projects in various cities with unique natural and agricultural features. Thus, these projects will offer visitors direct interaction and harmony with the cultural values of different parts in the Kingdom, arts, crafts, local Saudi cuisine, and heritage products.
Rural and Environmental Tourism Focus
The company focuses on rural tourism, connecting visitors to traditional agriculture, and environmental tourism, offering natural experiences while minimizing environmental impact.
Empowering Local Communities
Dan also plans to empower local communities by providing quality experiences for visitors from within the Kingdom and abroad. This includes granting commercial privileges to local farm and rural lodge owners, along with training programs to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Launching Projects in Al-Ahsa
Dan’s first projects will be launched in Al-Ahsa, covering approximately 1.8 million square meters. The project includes three resorts: Agricultural Resort, Environmental Resort, and Adventure Resort, each offering unique tourism styles.
Agricultural Resort: Celebrating Al-Ahsa’s Farming Heritage
Firstly, the Agricultural Resort in Al-Ahsa, known for its date and special Hesawi rice production, will offer immersive experiences in seasonal farming, crop harvesting, and cooking with natural produce, promoting the ‘farm-to-table’ concept.
Environmental and Adventure Resorts
Secondly, the Environmental Resort will use low-carbon natural materials in its construction, adhering to the highest sustainability standards and wildlife protection. Thirdly, the Adventure Resort will offer eco-friendly activities like horseback riding, stargazing, rock climbing, and more.
Economic Contribution and Job Creation
Dan is expected to contribute around 6 billion riyals to the non-oil domestic product by 2030. It will launch new destinations across the Kingdom. Therefore, this will aid in achieving the Vision 2030 goals of economic diversification and enhancing the cities’ economic roles.
