Photos: Prince Turki bin Faisal Assesses World Affairs at US-Arab Relations Conference
An elite gathering of policymakers from across the Arab World and the US engaged in a fruitful discussion on world affairs in the light of the new US administration at the National Council on US-Arab Relations.
On November 12-13, 2024, a distinguished group of policymakers, diplomats, humanitarians, media personalities, educators, and future leaders attended the 32nd annual conference and gala awards ceremony, organized by the National Council on US-Arab Relations.
Esteemed Guests
The event witnessed the participation of prestigious guests, leaders and policymakers, including Prince Turki bin Faisal; KSRelief Founder and Supervisor General Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah; General David Petraeus; World Central Kitchen’s Chef José Andres; Ambassador James Jeffrey; US Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking; and Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian parliament Mohamed Abou El Enein, among others.
Furthermore, members of the board of directors of the National Council on US-Arab Relations attended the celebration, including the National Council President H. Delano Roosevelt, and Member of the Board and President at HyphenPoint LLC., Col. (Ret.) Abbas Dahouk.
The ceremony started with a reception followed by a stunning Oud performance by the talented Maestro Muath Edriss and a Sufi dance performance by Khaled Al Mawlawi.
Productive Discussions
The conference featured panel discussions on a various range of topics related to world affairs and US-Arab relations. One of the panel discussions focused on future prospects for the US and the Arab World, while another panel focused on Syria and on education.
The third panel featured an interview with Pulitzer, Polk and Peabody Award winner Dr. Laurie Garrett, delving deep into the science and the politics of pandemics, environment, climate, and future global challenges.
The final panel of the event’s first day, moderated by Col. Abbas Dahouk, featured an important discussion on Lebanon and Yemen, with remarks from Special Envoy Lenderking and other notable speakers.
Increased Engagement
During the event, Prince Turki bin Faisal shared a valuable assessment of current world affairs, offering pragmatic solutions for the Middle East. Abou El Enein agreed with Prince Turki’s views and encouraged more engagement from Americans to implement these solutions and to engage more with Egypt.
In the light of this, the Council’s President Roosevelt announced achieving progress in the new North Africa Program and the Council’s plans to engage more with Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
Honoring KSRelief Efforts
In recognition of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian efforts, the National Council on US-Arab Relations awarded KSRelief and Dr. Al Rabeeah global health and humanitarian leadership awards in recognition of their relief efforts.
KSRelief received the award for implementing humanitarian projects in more than 170 countries, while Dr. Al Rabeeah was recognized for his impressive success in separating over 61 conjoined twins. Upon receiving the award, Dr. Al Rabeeah said this award is an international acknowledgement of Saudi Arabia’s significant role in relief efforts through KSRelief.
