The Member of the Board of Directors of the National Council on US-Arab Relations and President at HyphenPoint LLC., Col. (Ret.) Abbas Dahouk, took part in the National Council’s Annual Gala Awards Dinner and the 32nd Arab-US Policymakers Conference in Washington DC.
The event, held on November 12-13, 2024, is the largest gathering in the US that aims to deepen understanding and strengthen the US-Arab relations.
Distinguished Speakers
The event brings together a distinguished group of national and international prominent figures and experts to share their insights on issues of domestic and global importance to the US and the Arab region.
In addition to Col. Abbas Dahouk, this year’s Gala Dinner and Policymakers Conference featured keynote speakers, including the Chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud; and the Supervisor-General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Abdullah Al-Rabeeah.

The speakers also included prominent figures such as the US Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking; Partner at KKR and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, Gen. David Petraeus (U.S. Army Retired); and Founder and Executive Chairman of Beirut Institute, Raghida Dergham, in addition to other US and Arab specialists and experts.
Topics of Interest
The event featured panel discussions, debates and analyses of the issues of common interest to the US and Arab region, where Arab and US leaders from government, the military, business, and academe shared insights and recommendations.
It also featured an exclusive screening of “Confessions From A War.” It is a documentary that highlights the psychic and personal costs of the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990), which claimed the lives of around 150,000 people.
Recognizing Saudi Arabia’s Relief Efforts
Furthermore, the event granted the Global Humanitarian Achievement Award to KSrelief in recognition of its international relief efforts that have made profound impact worldwide.
During the ceremony, the National Council’s second President and CEO, Delano Roosevelt, presented the award to Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, who said that the award is an international acknowledgement of Saudi Arabia’s significant role in relief efforts through KSrelief.
