Over 102,000 Saudi Students to Learn Chinese Language by End of 2025

Saudi Arabia is expanding the teaching of the Chinese Language with a bold goal to teach 102,000 students by the end of 2025.

This ambitious vision reflects the Kingdom’s interest and keenness on fostering the Saudi-Chinese cultural and economic ties.

Currently, 175 Chinese teachers are teaching Saudi students under an important agreement signed in 2023, according to Gulf News.

In 2024, the Saudi Ministry of Education introduced the Chinese Language in middle schools in certain regions under the umbrella of the first phase of the programme.

Consequently, the Ministry stated that students would learn the Mandarin alongside Arabia and English in various schools in Riyadh, Yanbu, the Eastern Province, Jeddah, Jazan, and Tabuk.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry had prepared a familiarization meeting for the first group of Chinese teachers upon their arrival in the Kingdom.

Then, they finished pre-service training at Tianjin Normal University.

Crucially, the Saudi authorities started to teach Chinese in 8 high schools in 2020 to boost ties with China.

Earlier 2020, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited China and agreed to place a plan for adopting the teaching of the Chinese Language in the Kingdom’s schools and universities.
