No Tolerance for Houthi Attacks: Coalition Vows Retribution as Allies Back Saudi Arabia

The Saudi-led Arab Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen has vowed that Houthi attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Kingdom will not go unpunished.

In a series of statements, the Coalition said it had detected and destroyed missile platforms and other military sites in Yemen used by the Iranian-backed militia to launch attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, several Arab and Muslim nations, as well as regional bodies, have denounced Houthi aggression against the Kingdom, voicing their firm support for Riyadh in deterring threats to its national security and protecting civilian safety.

No Unpunished Aggression

Driving the News: In a statement, the Coalition Spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki warned that Houthi attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia “will not go unpunished.”

The Backstory: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, that an attack on Abha International Airport in Aseer killed two female residents, one Moroccan and one Algerian national, and injured 28 people, including Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident, and a Filipino resident.

Another attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed one Sudanese resident and injured eight other people, including five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and a Pakistani resident.

Targeted Retribution

The Big Picture: Maj. Gen. Al-Malki stated that in response to these brutal Houthi attacks, the Coalition’s Joint Forces launched a comprehensive operation, destroying 82 legitimate military targets in Saada, Hodeidah, Al-Jawf, and Ma’rib. These sites included:

  • 11 mountain-based ballistic missile storage facilities in Saada.
  • Command and control centers.
  • Communications systems.
  • Missile and weapons depots.
  • Gathering sites for Houthi forces.

State of Play: Earlier in the day, the Saudi-led Coalition said it had destroyed a ballistic missile launch platform in Sanaa before an imminent attack against Saudi Arabia. On Thursday, the Coalition intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles aimed at Riyadh and one ballistic missile targeting Khamis Mushait.

Zoom In: The internationally recognized government of Yemen, supported by the Saudi-led Coalition, launched Operation Dawn of Yemen to restore government control over Yemen and end the Houthi threat to shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The operation followed sharp escalations by the Iranian-backed militia, which has repeatedly rejected peace and political solutions, choosing to drag Yemen into further instability and humanitarian suffering to serve external agendas.

Wide Regional Solidarity

Between the Lines: Arab countries and regional organizations have voiced their steadfast support for Saudi Arabia in the face of continued Houthi aggression.

In separate statements, the foreign ministries of Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, and Syria rejected the Houthi targeting of airports and civilian facilities as a violation of international law and a threat to civilian safety. They also reaffirmed their support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security and stability.

Meanwhile, the Secretaries-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Muslim World League (MWL), and the Arab Interior Ministers Council condemned the attacks as “terrorist” acts, expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Flashback: In recent weeks, the Houthis have targeted Saudi civilian and economic facilities in Riyadh, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu, as well as the two Islamic holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, with drone and ballistic missile attacks. The group has also targeted commercial vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Pakistan & Türkiye: Ironclad Defense Commitments

The Context: As parties to the Makkah Defense Alliance, signed on August 7, Pakistan and Türkiye reiterated their unwavering commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty.

Pakistan:

In an interview with CNN, the Spokesperson for the Pakistani Armed Forces, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that Pakistani troops have been deployed to Saudi Arabia for defensive purposes under the Makkah Defense Alliance, stressing that Islamabad’s commitment to Saudi security was “absolute.”

What He Said: “The Pakistani forces, in multiple capabilities and domains, are already there (in Saudi Arabia).” – Ahmed Chaudhry, Pakistani Military Spokesperson.

Türkiye:

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Ankara is assessing aid to Riyadh to counter Houthi attacks under the Makkah Defense Alliance. Reiterating the defensive nature of the pact, Fidan told reporters that officials were working out what contributions Türkiye could make, particularly on air defense. Earlier, Reuters reported, citing a Turkish official, that Türkiye’s support would be in the form of military equipment, intelligence sharing, and weapons systems.

In His Words: “The technical evaluations are (being) carried out, and these continue among our military officials.” – Hakan Fidan, Turkish Foreign Minister.

Catch Up Quick: The Makkah Defense Alliance stipulates that “any armed attack against any one of the three states shall be regarded as an attack against them all.” In response to recent Houthi escalations, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan activated the collective deterrence measures under the pact, including the rapid deployment of the agreed military forces and capabilities in the Kingdom.

The Bottom Line: With these targeted strikes against Houthi military sites, Saudi Arabia has demonstrated its unyielding determination to safeguard its national security and sovereignty and protect the safety of its citizens and residents.
