Most important points: the interview with the Crown Prince

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman confirmed during an interview broadcasted by Al-Arabiya TV that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 will achieve many of its goals before its deadline. Among  the achievements in diversifying the country’s sources of income other than oil wealth, he mentioned:

The value-added tax is expected to be reduced in the coming years (to stimulate consumer spending)

  • There is no intention to impose taxes on income
  • The focus of the state and the Public Investment Fund will be on capital spending (which creates job opportunities and contributes to growth)
  • The decision to raise the added value to 15% is temporary (from one to five years)
  • Aim to have three universities out of the 200 most important universities in the world, and King Saud University among the Top 10
  • Intentions to convert King Faisal Specialist Hospital into a non-profit hospital fully owned by the government
  • Unemployment rate improvement
  • Sell 1% of Aramco to foreign investors
  • Focus not only on Riyadh but other cities in the country
  • The transformation program in the health sector will make a big change in the level of services
  • Education and health services free for citizens
  • The constitution of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the Qur’an and the Sunnah
  • Vegetation cover in Saudi Arabia has increased during the past four years by 40%
  • To hold accountable anyone who adopts terrorist ideology and extremism
  • The margin of disagreement may increase or decrease with the American administration, and the United States is a strategic partner to Saudi Arabia
  • Our foreign policy is based on the interests of Saudi Arabia
  • We will work on any opportunity we have, develop our human and governmental capabilities to make them happen as quickly as possible. Once we achieve them, new horizons will open up.
