Ahmad bin Askar is a distinguished leader in strategic communications, with a decade and a half of experience in branding, marketing, and public relations. As the Chief Communication Officer at the Sports Boulevard Foundation since 2021, Bin Askar has been instrumental in driving the foundation’s vision of transforming Riyadh into a global center for sports and well-being.
Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, Bin Askar’s passion for communication and marketing was evident early on. He pursued a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Prince Sultan University, where he laid the foundation for his future career. His commitment to continuous learning led him to further his expertise with a Nano degree in digital marketing from Udacity, California, as well as certifications in brand management and advanced leadership. He has also completed several executive educational courses at the prestigious INSEAD Business School. His pursuit of creativity took him to the Cannes Lions School, where he earned a certificate in creativity, further enhancing his ability for innovation in his field of choice.
Bin Askar’s started his private sector career in 2010 and his innovative approach to marketing and public relations quickly established him as a rising star within the industry. This success paved the way for his appointment as the Marketing Director at the Saudi Customs Authority in 2017. During his tenure there, he led major communication campaigns that enhanced the organization’s public image and digital presence.
In 2020, Bin Askar joined the advisory board of the College of Business Administration at Prince Sultan University, where as a member he has been actively involved in shaping the future of business education and mentoring the next generation of marketing professionals.
Since taking on the role of Chief Communication Officer at the Sports Boulevard Foundation in 2021, Bin Askar been central to the foundation’s goal of making Riyadh an international hub for sports and well-being. He has successfully activated many high-impact initiatives and campaigns at the Foundation. His leadership was key to the successful communication strategy and the launch of Riyadh’s immersive cycling experience, RIYDE as well as the Community Information Centre.
He also piloted the communications roll-out of the Sports Boulevard Design Code, a project aimed at revolutionizing the urban environment of Riyadh. His strategic vision and innovative campaigns have not only promoted the foundation’s objectives but have also encouraged the citizens of Riyadh to adopt more active and healthy lifestyles.
In addition to his professional achievements, Bin Askar has been recognized for his contributions to the field. In 2024, he received the “Outstanding Leadership Award” at the prestigious Marketing 2.0 Conference in Dubai, an acknowledgement of his visionary leadership and his significant impact on the marketing and communications landscape.
