Lucid Advances Saudi Arabia’s Wild Push for Electric Vehicles

Marc Winterhoff, Chief Operating Officer at Lucid Motors, predicted that Saudi Electric Vehicle Market will grow by 5.95% annually over the next five years.

Winterhoff unveiled Lucid’s plans to open more customer service centers in Saudi Arabia while expanding mobile services for Lucid Air vehicles for on-the-go maintenance. He mentioned that 40% of the local and international repairs are done through mobile maintenance.

Wild Journey

Saudi Arabia has embarked on a wild journey to adopt electric vehicles with a bold goal to deploy at least 30 % of these cars on the roads by 2030.

Winterhoff believes that the Kingdom is steadily moving towards more private sector innovation and investments in clean energy.

This unwavering commitment will rewrite the Saudi Arabia’s future as a prestigious prominent market in the sustainable transportation sector.

Winterhoff also highlighted the promising opportunities in the Saudi car market, particularly for electric vehicles, supported by Saudi Vision 2030 and an expected $50 billion investment, which should flourish the substantial growth.

Strong Ties with PIF

In the same context, he commended the strong partnerships with the Public Investment Fund (PIF), describing it as Lucid’s largest shareholder which supports its regional and global growth.

“Without our partnership with the Public Investment Fund, we would not have been able to open the first electric vehicle factory in the Kingdom,” Winterhoff said.

Promising Partnerships

Lucid Motors has also signed a partnership with Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company (EVIC) to build a high-speed charging network across Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, the company has signed an agreement with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) to collaborate on significant research for advanced battery technologies using KACST’s facilities and resources.

Winterhoff emphasized that most Lucid vehicles can travel over 700 kilometers on a single charge, which usually lasts almost a week. Therefore, customers typically need to charge only once a week.

Currently, Lucid is preparing to build more studios and service centers to get closer to customers and meet their expectations.

To accelerate the expansion project, the company is also launching “mobile services,” where Lucid Air vehicles are converted into mobile service units for maintenance.
