KSA to Issue Tenders for Renewable Energy in 2024

Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman said that the first phase of NEOM green hydrogen was completed with a total investment of $8.5 billion. “We plan to issue tenders for renewable energy with a capacity of 20 gigawatts in 2024,” added the minister.

During the launch of the third edition of the Saudi Green Initiative, the Minister of Energy added that the economic corridor project between India and Europe supports the Kingdom’s ambition to export electricity and green hydrogen.

The Minister of Energy confirmed that Saudi Arabia will launch the geographic survey project next year 2024.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said that the NEOM green hydrogen project has completed the first phase.

“We are working with a number of African countries to provide clean cooking fuel to millions of people,” according to the Saudi Minister.

Today, Monday, the proceedings of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum 2023 started in Dubai in conjunction with the “COP28” conference.

This year’s edition focuses on financing climate action activities, innovating clean energy solutions, and protecting land and marine areas in the Kingdom.

As per the agenda, the forum is bringing together influential personalities, climate experts, government officials, and CEOs. Thus, they aim to exchange ideas and discuss effective ways to address climate challenges. Notable speakers include Standard Chartered CEO Winters, World Energy Council’s Dr. Angela Wilkinson, and several ministers.

The forum’s agenda centers on clean energy solutions, the Red Sea ecosystem, climate action financing, and protection of Saudi Arabia’s terrestrial and marine areas. It also offers an ideal opportunity for climate action stakeholders to engage in productive dialogues. Moreover, they get to share ideas, and spotlight innovative methodologies in tackling environmental challenges and supporting global climate efforts.

Interactive Sessions and Climate Action

The forum includes discussion sessions on four main themes. These themes include environmental work in the industrial sector, the future of the financial system and the role of innovation in transformation.

Moreover, these sessions will cover pressing issues, including clean energy solutions, desertification combat, innovative climate technologies and renewable energy.
