KSA organizes an auction of autistic people’s paintings collecting SAR 6.5 million
Areej Al-Moallem, the secretary-general of the “Autistic Families Association,” revealed that the entire proceeds from the public auction held by the organization in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the sale of 100 paintings created by autistic artists were almost SAR 6.5 million.
In an interview with Areej Al-Moallem, he said the amount obtained in a short and record time will be used to establish a first-of-its-kind project in the Kingdom to develop the talents of people with autism.
She added that the auction was part of the “Taif Feather” initiative, which is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia.
100 artists with autism met with 100 Saudi plastic artists in exceptional community integration for people with autism through arts in 5 regions of the Kingdom. They drew 100 paintings.
Al-Moallem explained that the main objective of this initiative is “to achieve sustainability in services provided to people with autism using an innovative charitable model.”
She continued: “Since the association was established, it has paid careful attention to people with autism and their families, demanded their rights, and provided them with full services with high efficiency.”
She added: “Since Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz assumed the presidency of the association 3 years ago, the association’s work has moved from a pastoral association to a development association.”
“The projects that the association is working on all revolve around developing the talents of people with autism, highlighting them to society, identifying the problems they face, and providing them with assistance,” she said.
