General Authority, Performing Arts Signs MoU with Theater Association

The General Authority for Theater and Performing Arts signed a memorandum with the Theater and Performing Arts Association for joint cooperation. The agreement aims to create programs, exchange expertise, and support Saudi theater to achieve the sector’s strategic goals.
The memorandum includes several aspects of cooperation which involve collaborating to activate initiatives related to the Theater and Performing Arts Authority, empowering practitioners and nonprofit organizations in the Kingdom, developing practice standards and professional criteria, and raising awareness of the importance of the theater sector to empower professionals and talents within the theater industry.
Providing Cultural Environment
The memorandum aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by integrating all sectors to create a cultural environment that enhances quality of life, empowers the theatrical sector, provides support and incentives, motivates practitioners, and improves cultural products.
Sultan Al-Bazai, CEO of the Theater and Performing Arts Authority, emphasized that Vision 2030 puts culture at the core of development. He highlighted that the Ministry of Culture was established to shape a national strategy, and specialized cultural bodies were formed to develop their sectors. These bodies regulate, support, and enable collaboration with the private and non-profit sectors to build sustainable industries.
He stressed the importance of the Theatre and Performing Arts Association as the first professional association that will be a supporting partner for practitioners, to propose legislation to develop the sector, and to ensure that practitioners receive material and moral support to continue practicing their activity.
Nasser Al-Qasabi, CEO of the Theater Association, explained that the memorandum aims to enhance cooperation, leverage both sides’ capabilities to promote theatrical arts, improve the future of professionals, and develop standards in theater and performing arts.
