KSA Allows Scooters, Bicycles in Mecca City, Holy Sites
The Royal Commission for Mecca City and the Holy Sites, represented by the General Center for Transportation, has activated initiatives that promote using light transportation means, such as scooters and bicycles, reported Al Arabiya. The initiative aims to raise awareness in the community about how to use these means safely within Mecca City and the Holy Sites.
The General Center for Transportation in Mecca City and the Holy Sites held a series of motivational meetings. The meetings outlined the main steps to start the initiative, in collaboration with key partners.
These partners include the Secretariat of the holy capital of Makkah, the Transport General Authority, Umm Al-Qura University, and Kidana Development Company.
The initiative will start in pedestrian walkways, neighborhoods, car parks, around Mount Rahmah in Arafat, and at Umm Al-Qura University.
Umm Al-Qura University has supported the initiative by providing 30 scooters at four stations across the university campus.
They also provided 70 electric scooters for more than 1100 participants in the initiative through Wadi Makkah Technology Company. It aims to improve the university environment and offer an ideal experience for its staff, students, and visitors. Moreover, it aims to achieve the planned societal benefit in Mecca City and the Holy Sites.
