King Salman Reserve Authority Enhances Environmental Conservation, Ecosystem Restoration

In alignment with the second anniversary of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI)—launched in 2021 by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the SGI Higher Committee—the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority is advancing its mission to safeguard the environment and restore ecological balance.
The SGI underscores a national commitment to uniting community efforts in implementing measurable environmental actions, improving quality of life, and supporting Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
To commemorate this milestone, the authority has spearheaded field initiatives, awareness campaigns, and land rehabilitation programs, achieving remarkable results:
- Restoration of over 700,000 hectares of land
- Planting of three million trees
- Distribution of four tons of seeds
- Engagement of 11,000+ volunteers
Additionally, the authority has enforced measures to protect vegetation from vehicle damage, raised public awareness on sustainable land use and habitat preservation, and educated local communities on the detrimental effects of illegal logging. These efforts collectively foster a thriving ecosystem for wildlife and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
