King Salman approves the international Qur’an-writing competition
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has agreed to hold an international competition in writing the Noble Qur’an in the coming month of Sha’ban, under the supervision and organization of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, represented by the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Noble Qur’an in Medina.
Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, and General Supervisor of the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Noble Qur’an, said the competition intends to allow professional calligraphers to flourish in writing the Holy Qur’an.

Aside from the printing paper, the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Noble Qur’an made a quantum leap by raising the number of printed copies of the Noble Qur’an by more than 100%, bringing the yearly volume of production to 20 million copies, up from eight million copies of previously. In addition to growing the number of languages available, the Noble Qur’an’s words and meanings have been translated into nearly eighty different languages.
