Jeddah to Host Legendary Italian Sailing Ship ‘Amerigo Vespucci’ for 1st Time

Jeddah is set to welcome the iconic Italian sailing ship Amerigo Vespucci next Monday, marking its first visit to the city in its 93-year history.
The historic vessel, a training ship of the Italian Navy, will dock in Jeddah from January 27 to 30 as part of its global Vespucci World Tour. Additionally, this stop will be the 33rd on its journey, showcasing Italy’s rich maritime heritage and culture.
During its stay, the Villaggio Italia initiative will host a series of events, including an exhibition offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore Italy’s culture, history, and beauty. The initiative blends traditional maritime training with maritime diplomacy, as the Amerigo Vespucci serves as a floating ambassador of Italian culture, innovation, cuisine, science, research, technology, and industry.
Jeddah becomes the eighth destination on the ship’s world tour, following stops in Los Angeles, Tokyo, Darwin, Singapore, Mumbai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi. Finally, this visit highlights the city’s growing role as a hub for international cultural exchange and maritime diplomacy.
