Japan's 7.6 Magnitude Earthquake Triggers Tsunami Warning
Japan Meteorological Agency issued tsunami warning for Ishikawa District and lower-level warning for the rest of the western coast. These warnings came after Japan’s 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Ishikawa District Today, Monday, reported NHK.
NHK warned that the waves could reach 5 meters, urging people to rush to high land or rooftops. A 1.2 meter tsunami hit Wajima city in Ishikawa.
Japan’s 7.6 magnitude earthquake (7 on the Japanese seismic scale) was recorded at 4:10pm. Between 4:06pm and 4:48pm, eleven tremors struck Japan, reported The guardian.
A government spokesperson, Hayashi Yoshimasa, said that the authorities are still to check the extent of damage.

NHK shared footage showing buildings collapsing. Moreover, 36000 households experienced power outage.
Despite being closest to the quake ,Hokuriku’s Shika plant in Ishikawa was not affected. It had already stopped its two reactors before the earthquake for regular inspection.
Earthquakes are not something new to Japan. In 2011, an earthquake struck north-eastern Japan leaving behind 18,000 dead, nearly all nuclear powers mothballed to date and towns devastated.
