How Saudi Arabia is keen to teach the Chinese language in Schools?

To strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China, it was agreed during the visit of HRH, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz‘s visit to China in 2019 to start developing a plan to include the Chinese language as a curriculum at all educational levels in Saudi schools and universities.

 

This step comes from the belief in the importance of strengthening cooperation and communication in all fields. This will enable the achievement of a comprehensive strategic partnership that rises to achieve the aspirations of the Saudi and Chinese leadership. This will also enable them to seize promising opportunities between their peoples, whose relations have extended for decades.

 

The agreement to include the Chinese language will enhance the cultural diversity of students in the Kingdom, and contribute to achieving future national goals in the field of education in terms of “Vision 2030”.

 

The inclusion of the Chinese language in the school curricula represents an invaluable step towards opening new academic horizons for students of different educational levels in the Kingdom. This is because learning the Chinese language is a bridge between the two peoples and will contribute to increasing commercial and cultural ties.

 

The introduction of the Chinese language into private education in schools and universities is an invaluable and fruitful matter. It is imperative and fruitful for the success of this development and this mutual trade between the two countries.

 

There are large Chinese investments in the Jazan region, which is located in the southwestern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In addition, there are other investments in tourism and petrochemicals.

 

Moreover, the Kingdom has many industrial and oil projects of its own in China. Within 20 years, it is expected that the Chinese economy will become the largest in the world. Therefore, investing in relations with this country, which is the most developed in the world, is a smart decision.

 

The Chinese language and translation program were also activated at King Saud University in the year 1430/1431 AH corresponding to 2009/2010. The Chinese language is also one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, ancient and modern. It carries an ancient civilization and culture among its folds and symbols because its history extends back more than five thousand years ago.

 

After the approval of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz to include the Chinese language in universities and schools, King Abdulaziz University has included the Chinese language in many disciplines such as proficiency test training, employees, children, and school students.
