ON THE NINETIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KINGDOM’S UNIFICATION
By: Dr. Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Salamah
The Saudi National Day this year marks the 90th anniversary of the Kingdom’s unification, which represents a special opportunity to highlight the great accomplishments of the country on political, economic, social, and infrastructural levels.
This significant national occasion, that we all cherish, makes us remember with pride and dignity the great efforts, sacrifices, and the many challenges that faced our late founder – King Abdulaziz Ibn Abdul Rahman Al Saud and his sons the loyal kings after him; Saud, Faisal, Khaled, Fahd and Abdullah, may God have mercy on them all, and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the King of Determination and Decisiveness and his trustworthy Crown Prince, the architect and guide of the 2030 vision, and the citizens of this dear country who are dedicated to its unity, stability and development.
We all should know and remember our past in this glorious journey; from where we started to how far we have progressed economically until we reached the 18th rank in GPD per capita worldwide. This enormous progress has qualified Saudi Arabia to assume the Presidency of the G20 Group this year 2020.
Among all the sectors that witnessed unprecedented advancement is the specialized training that Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies strives to offer since its establishment pursuant to the Eminent Royal Decree dated 8/9/1403 (18/6/1983).
Our main mission at IDS is to provide a wide array of training programs in Diplomacy and languages for the employees and affiliates of the Ministry of foreign Affairs and all related sectors. IDS also seeks to be a notable Think Tank through the efforts and research of our four main centers: The Center for American Studies, the Center for European Studies, the Center for Asian Studies and the Center for Strategic Studies. The key tasks of these centers are conducting research and maintaining effective communication with other distinguished Think Tanks to ensure forming a deep understanding of international relations and international cooperation.
