The Haramain High-Speed Railway will play a pivotal role in serving worshippers this Ramadan, with more than 3,662 trips set to accommodate over 1.7 million passengers, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has recently announced the completion of its operational preparations to expand travel capacity between Makkah and Madinah during the holy month.
The company also confirmed that this season’s operational plan features more than 100 daily trips on the Haramain High-Speed Railway.
Therefore, it will coincide with prayer schedules and the flow of Umrah pilgrims.
To further enhance passenger capacity on the Haramain line, Saudi Arabia Railways has announced the purchase of 20 new high-speed trains from Spanish manufacturer Talgo. They will be delivered between 2028 and 2031.
The company noted that the latest progress perfectly aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics.
The Haramain High-Speed Railway operates some of the fastest passenger trains in the world, reaching speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour.
Spanning across a 453-km line, it links Makkah and Madinah through Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City.
