Hajj 2025: Oman Announces Access Restrictions to Mecca

Oman’s Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) has prohibited the entry to Mecca during the 2025 Hajj season, according to Gulf News.

In coordination with Saudi authorities, the ministry has restricted access to or residence in Mecca starting from 1 Dhu Al Qi’dah 1446 AH (April 29, 2025) until 14 Dhu Al Hijjah 1446 AH (June 11, 2025).

Crucially, the prohibition represents an integral part of crowd management and security measures aiming to ensure safety during the Hajj pilgrimage.

Therefore, MERA advised all citizens to completely abide by the regulations throughout the specified period. Meanwhile, it stressed that the directive aims to ensure the safety and security of one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

Saudi Arabia is currently ramping up preparations for Hajj 2025 with major infrastructure and service upgrades.

The Central Hajj Committee has recently held a meeting to evaluate the readiness of facilities and services for pilgrims during Ramadan and the upcoming Hajj season.

Held under the directives of Emir of Mecca and Committee Chairman Prince Khaled Al Faisal, the meeting reviewed the latest operational plans as well as the emergency response strategy designed by the General Directorate of Civil Defense.

In coordination with 43 government agencies, the plan aims to foster safety, streamline logistics, and provide efficient crisis management during 2025 season.

The meeting also delved into various other agenda items and issued recommendations to further intensify Hajj 2025 preparations.
