Glory in Giza: GEA Unveils Star-Studded Lineup for Egypt Boxing Night

The Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and President of Saudi Boxing Federation, Turki Al al-Sheikh, has revealed details about the much-awaited “Glory in Giza” boxing event.

Taking place on May 23, 2026 in Egypt, the event will bring together a lineup of world-class fighters to face off in a heated competition against the backdrop of the timeless Pyramids of Giza.

In collaboration with the Ring Magazine and supported by Matchroom Boxing, GEA Chairman announced the undercard for the “Glory in Giza” event, which will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN.

The event features a massive crossover headliner between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and kickboxing icon Rico Verhoeven.

The excitement in the heavyweight division continues on the undercard as Frank Sanchez puts his WBC Americas and WBO NABO titles on the line against the undefeated Richard Torrez Jr.

Furthermore, the undercard offers a battle of unbeatens, as Hamzah Sheeraz takes on Alem Begic for the vacant WBO Super Middleweight title, marking Sheeraz’s 2026 debut since a dominant fifth-round knockout of Edgar Berlanga in New York last July.

Meanwhile, Jack Catterall targets the WBA Regular welterweight crown against Uzbekistan’s Shakhram Giyasov, marking Catterall’s first fight since defeating Ekow Essuman in November.

The event will also see women in action, as Mizuki Hiruta will defend her Ring and WBO titles against Australian-Egyptian Mai Soliman. This marks Hiruta’s seventh consecutive WBO title defense and her first match on a major main card.

Interestingly, local fighters will have an opportunity to join the “Glory in Giza.” The event will bring Egyptian Bassem Mamdouh in a cruiserweight showdown against undefeated American prospect Jamar Talley.

Moreover, the undercard will allow other emerging Egyptian talents to compete, including Mahmoud Mubarak vs. Michael Kalyala and Omar Heikal vs. Ali Sironkooma.
