The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) has launched a competition for the best geospatial app. This competition aims to enhance the national geospatial infrastructure by encouraging government and private sectors, as well as individuals, to develop innovative and effective apps that utilize geospatial data.
Three Categories of Awards
The authority clarified it will nominate three geospatial apps, with three awards for the government sector, private sector, and individuals.
Competition Criteria and Evaluation
The app must present a new idea with economic and social impact. GEOSA will evaluate proposals based on eight criteria: scalability and sustainability, ease of use, integration with other systems, community interaction, creativity, cross-platform functionality, accessibility for people with disabilities, profitability, and marketing potential. The proposal must support one of the Sustainable Development Goals, align with Saudi Vision 2030, and must build using data from the National Geospatial Platform.
Recognition and Timeline
Winners will receive the Geospatial Shield for the Best Geospatial App at the National Geospatial Platform Forum 2024. Geospatial platforms across social media will showcase the top features of winning apps.
The competition begins today, Sunday, August 25, 2024, and will last for one month. Entries and inquiries can be sent to the competition’s dedicated email ([email protected]).
