The General Authority for Competition, led by CEO Dr. Fahad Alshathri, has wrapped up its participation in the Global Forum on Competition, hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, alongside meetings of the OECD Competition Committee held in Paris from December 1 to 5.
Dr. Alshathri took part in a rich program of high-level discussions, chairing a session titled “Competition in the Healthcare Sector,” moderating a panel on healthcare markets, and presenting multiple working papers covering artificial intelligence and competition dynamics, as well as enforcement challenges in informal markets.
Throughout the forum, the authority also joined a series of specialized seminars and sessions exploring market studies, advanced analytical tools, and the intersection between prudential regulation and competition policy in the banking sector.
Additionally, in his role as Chairman of the Arab Competition Network, Dr. Alshathri participated in an informal meeting of Middle Eastern and North African representatives, where he highlighted the network’s recent progress and the achievements of its specialized working groups.
These international engagements underscore the authority’s dedication to elevating the Kingdom’s presence in global competition platforms, fostering the exchange of international expertise, and strengthening cooperation across relevant institutions. Finally, this ongoing effort supports the development of effective policies and procedures and advances a fair, competitive marketplace aligned with the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030.
