GCC, UK Laud Progress in Free Trade Talks

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, held remarkable talks on Saturday with David Lammy, the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The meeting delved into multiple key topics, with a special focus on boosting the strategic partnership between the GCC and the United Kingdom.

Convened on the sidelines of the inaugural Europe Gulf Forum in Costa Navarino, Greece, the meeting tackled a series of pathways charted to resolve outstanding hurdles and harmonize positions across all dimensions of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), setting the stage for its finalization in the near future.

In the light of this, Albudaiwi and Lammy commended the substantial headway made to date in the ongoing FTA negotiations.

Albudaiwi also lauded the United Kingdom’s pivotal efforts and steadfast support for GCC states in confronting Iranian aggression.

In this regard, both sides underscored the need to unite and ramp up international efforts to further enhance security and stability across the region and the wider world.
