The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has announced that the number of Umrah performers increased by 31% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the same quarter in 2023, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
According to GASTAT’s report on Umrah statistics, males constituted approximately 53% of the Umrah performers. Meanwhile, females represented 47% of the total pilgrims.
Apart from this, Saudi nationals constituted 4.5% of the total, with the Makkah Region recording the highest number of domestic Umrah performers.
The statistics also showed a 26.2% growth in international Umrah performers in comparison to the same quarter of the previous year. 64.7% of the international Umrah performers arrived with an Umrah visa, according to the report.
December marked the highest number of international Umrah performers at 38.2%.
Meanwhile, November saw the highest percentage of domestic Umrah performers completing the ritual for one time, constituting 34% of the total.
Since 2024, GASTAT has been issuing Umrah statistics quarterly showcasing the numbers and percentages of domestic and international Umrah performers based on data from the Pilgrim Experience Program as well as the approved statistical models.
