Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry revealed the contents of the Arab initiative to end the Russian-Ukrainian problem, which was delivered on Monday.
He emphasized that the Russian-Ukrainian crisis ministerial contact group, which includes Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, Sudan, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), and Russian FM Sergey Lavrov, met in Russia on Monday to discuss the seriousness of the crisis’s repercussions on international peace and security.
“We voiced concern about the current crisis’s continuation,” Shoukry added.
“We called on all sides of the dispute to avoid escalation and refrain from resorting to military action. We also emphasized the importance of returning to a peaceful environment as soon as possible”, he said.
He stated that the Arab side supports the continuation of direct negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian
According to the Egyptian FM, a committee will travel to Poland on Tuesday to meet with Ukrainian FM Dmitry Kuleba as part of the Arab consultations and efforts to end the crisis with the two conflict parties in a way that leads to the region’s return to stability and the strengthening of international peace and security.
