Dubai Hosts Arab Aviation Summit Activities (IATA)

Dubai hosts the 80th Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the World Air Transport Summit, from June 2 to 4. This event, which is being held in the United Arab Emirates for the first time and hosted by Emirates Airlines.

This event held in the UAE for the first time. It will be attended by more than 1,500 leaders and representatives of 320 international airlines that are members of IATA and representatives of international and regional organizations.

Willie Walsh, Director General of IATA, said Dubai will soon host aviation industry leaders. Achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 is the top agenda at IATA’s 80th Annual General Meeting. Moreover, the World Air Transport Summit will discuss solutions to accelerate this, including sustainable aviation fuel and carbon emission elimination.

Walsh said: “We will evaluate the progress we have made in the field of safety, financial sustainability, and other key industry topics.”

Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, pointed out that Dubai has established its position in the global aviation field. This is due to the insightful vision of its leaders and advanced policies that recognize the role of air transport as a major economic enabler.

He explained that the aviation sector last year contributed 27% to Dubai’s gross domestic product and added $37 billion of the total value added.

The summit will also witness the launch of the fifth edition of the IATA Diversity and Inclusion Awards.
