Historic Jeddah Program has launched the Culture Square, marking one of the most innovative cultural destinations in Jeddah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The Culture Square represents a significant initiative aimed at further positioning Historic Jeddah area as a global cultural hub for all visitors around the world.
The Culture Square
Located on the banks of Lake Al-Arbaeen, the square offers an exceptional blend between the area’s great history and contemporary innovation.
Therefore, it stands as an obvious crystallization for the accelerating pace of the Saudi Vision 2030 to preserve national heritage and support cultural tourism.
Spanning over 26,000 square meters, the project will feature two key facilities:
- The Center for Performing Arts
- The Digital Arts Museum “TeamLab Without Borders.”
The Center for Performing Arts
The Center for Performing Arts will provide visitors with a range of cultural activities, such as theatrical performances, international festivals, and film screenings.
Furthermore, the square will also house various cultural facilities, as follows:
- The headquarters of the Red Sea Film Festival
- A large theater with 868 seats
- Five cinema halls
- Dialogue spaces
- Multi-purpose areas for cultural exchange
The TeamLab Museum
Over a space of 10,000 square meters, the TeamLab Museum will display 80 interconnected works that combine art, technology, and nature.
Prince of the Sea House
To further showcase Jeddah’s architectural heritage, the authorities have developed the restored Prince of the Sea House.
It is basically a historic octagonal structure once used as a lighthouse to guide ships.
The restoration of the site is part of broader initiative to preserve the national identity of the historic district. Meanwhile, the efforts include the introduction of several modern elements, such as air purification systems, touchless elevators with UV sterilization, and water recycling technologies for irrigation.
