On the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s Founding Day 2026, the Cultural Houses will begin celebrations on Sunday, February 22, with unique activities across eight cities, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi Founding Day, which falls on February 22 of each year, commemorates the establishment of the First Saudi State on the hands of Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727.
Imam Muhammad bin Saud established a political entity to achieve unity, stability and prosperity in the Arabian Peninsula. He took Diriyah as the capital of this state, and the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) as its constitution.
The Saudi Cultural Houses will mark the Founding Day across its venues in Riyadh, Dammam, Buraidah, Ahad Rafidah, Jizan, Najran, Hail and Sakaka.
The celebrations will feature a wide range of programs and activities that reinforce the values of the Founding Day and honor the Kingdom’s legacy through a modern, creative lens.
The events will involve three main tracks. The Founding Theater track will host poetry evenings, panel discussions, and cultural performances that enrich the national landscape with a sophisticated historical narrative, highlighting the core values upon which the Saudi state was established.
Meanwhile, the Founding Experiences track will immerse visitors in interactive cultural activities that reflect the traditions and values of the founding period.
Finally, the Founding Memory track will offer cultural workshops centered on reading, writing, and creative expression. These aim to document the values, stories, and cultural symbols associated with the Kingdom’s history, ensuring their enduring presence in the collective social consciousness.
In light of this, the CEO of the Libraries Commission, Abdel-Rahman Al-Assem, highlighted the Cultural Houses growing position as efficient national platforms contributing to realizing the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 of fostering a vibrant society with a deeply-rooted identity.
